What fascia & soffit cleaning actually involves
What it is
Chemical cleaning of exterior UPVC — fascias, soffits, bargeboards, cladding and downpipes — designed to lift oxidised staining, black run-off streaks and algae without abrasive scrubbing.
Who it's for
Anyone whose 'white' plastics have gone grey, streaked, or spotted with black. Especially common on properties over 10 years old.
When you need it
Any time you look at the roofline and it makes the rest of the property look dated. Usually every 3–5 years is plenty.
Why do it properly
UPVC doesn't clean up properly with just water and a sponge. Once it's oxidised, you need the right chemistry to reverse the yellowing and lift the run-off marks without scratching the surface.
What happens if you leave it
Every job we quote for is easier — and cheaper — than the one that follows it. Here's what tends to happen when this gets ignored.
Oxidised UPVC pulls down the whole property
Grey, chalky fascias make a well-kept house look tired. It's often the last thing homeowners notice — because it happens slowly — and the first thing a buyer notices at a viewing.
Black run-off marks become permanent stains
Those dark vertical streaks under gutters are algae and grime being carried down the fascia every time it rains. Leave them too long and they etch into the plastic surface.
Scrubbing with the wrong product scratches the plastic
Abrasive cleaners and green scouring pads leave micro-scratches on UPVC that then attract dirt faster. Common DIY route, common expensive fix.
Our process
The same repeatable system on every job — so you know exactly what you're paying for and exactly what you're getting.

What you actually get out of it
Concrete outcomes — not vague promises.
Bright white finish
Reverses years of oxidation and run-off, not just a surface rinse.
No scratching
No green scouring pads, no abrasive brushes — the chemistry does the work.
Roofline matches the house again
A clean fascia line makes a cleaned roof and elevations actually look complete.
Pairs with roof & gutter work
Done at the same time as a roof clean, we're already up there — cheaper than booking separately.
Long intervals between cleans
A proper fascia clean typically lasts 3–5 years before it needs revisiting.
Includes downpipes & cladding
Not just fascias — bargeboards, cladding sections and downpipes done in the same visit.
The detail most companies skip
What we clean and what we don't
We clean UPVC fascias, soffits, bargeboards, cladding and downpipes. We don't do paintwork restoration on timber fascias — if yours are wood and blistered, you need a decorator, not a cleaner, and we'll tell you.
The chemistry — why household cleaners don't cut it
UPVC oxidises when the top layer is broken down by UV. Domestic surface sprays don't reverse this. Trade fascia cleaners contain the specific solvents that lift oxidation without attacking the plastic underneath.
Booked with a roof clean vs standalone
The most efficient time to do fascias is during a roof clean — we're already at height and set up. Standalone fascia jobs cost more per square metre because of the access setup, but they're still worth it if the roof isn't due.
Commercial cladding & signage
Same chemistry, larger scale. For commercial buildings with UPVC or coated metal cladding we scope access separately and provide RAMS.
Frequently asked questions
How much does fascia and soffit cleaning cost?+
Standalone fascia and soffit cleaning for a typical 3-bed home usually falls between £120 and £250 depending on size, height and how oxidised the plastic is. Combined with a roof clean, the add-on cost is lower.
How long does it take?+
Most residential fascia cleans are half a day. Larger detached properties or heavily-oxidised jobs can push into a full day.
Will the white come back to full brightness?+
In the vast majority of cases, yes. Very old or heavily sun-damaged UPVC may not return 100% — but you'll see a dramatic improvement either way.
Do you clean bargeboards and downpipes too?+
Yes — bargeboards, cladding, guttering face and downpipes are all included in a standard fascia clean.
How long will it stay clean?+
A proper professional clean typically holds up for 3–5 years before it's worth revisiting, depending on your local environment (trees, exposure, traffic pollution).
Is it safe on painted UPVC?+
Painted UPVC needs special care — some paints react badly to trade cleaners. We test a small area first and adjust the method.
Do you cover Cardiff and Swansea?+
Yes — full South Wales coverage including Cardiff, Swansea, Bridgend, Neath, Port Talbot, Porthcawl and the Vale.
Can I combine it with a roof clean to save money?+
Absolutely — this is the most efficient way to book it. When we're already set up for a roof clean, the fascia add-on is a fraction of the standalone cost.
